چکیده

Thirty-two patients with clinical diagnosis of bronchial asthma were evaluated. Serum IgE levels, measured by the Phadebas IgE test, were clearly increased in the patients with asthmatic attack compared with those without asthmatic attack. When the patients were grouped according to the clinical grading of severity of asthmatic attack, the levels showed the significant elevation in proportion to the intensity of asthmatic attack and were higher in the group of severe attack or moderately severe attack than in the group of mild attack. When the serial determination of serum IgE concentration was performed during the clinical course of the patients, a high correlation was observed between the levels and the intensity of asthmatic attack.

Serum levels of IL-17A increase in Asthma but not in accordance with Serum level of IgE and Asthma Severity

Background and Aims: Recent evidence suggests that T helper (Th) 17 cells are involved in the emergence of asthma. Th17 cells have a key role in inducing inflammation in asthmatic airways thus Interleukin (IL)-17A, the main cytokine of Th17, contributes to airways inflammation. Materials and Methods: We evaluated the level of IL-17A and total immunoglobulin E (IgE) in sera of 100 asthmatic p...

Total serum IgE levels are associated with ambient ozone concentration in asthmatic adults.

BACKGROUND Effects of air pollution exposure on IgE-mediated response in asthmatics are poorly investigated. The aim was to examine the relationship between air pollution concentrations and total IgE levels in adult asthmatics. METHODS The present study relates to the 369 asthmatic adults from the French Epidemiological study on Genetics and Environment of Asthma (EGEA), with availability of ...

Effects of inhaled steroid treatment on serum eosinophilic cationic protein (ECP) and low affinity receptor for IgE (Fc epsilon RII/sCD23) in childhood bronchial asthma.

Serum eosinophilic cationic protein (ECP) and soluble low affinity receptor for IgE (Fc epsilon RII/sCD23) concentrations were measured in relation to symptom-medication scores, pulmonary function, and total IgE levels in 27 chronic allergic asthmatic children (17 boys, 10 girls), mean age 10.8 years, before and at the end of a three month inhaled corticosteroid (budesonide) treatment period. Serum IgE in Asthmatic Children

Wood, C. B. S., and Oliver, J. (1972). Archives of Disease in Childhood, 47, 890. Serum IgE in asthmatic children: relation to age, sex, eczema, and skin sensitivity tests. A simple method was used to detect raised serum concentrations of IgE immunoglobulin in 237 asthmatic children. The lower limit of sensitivity of the method was 900 units/ml. 49% of the children were found to have concentrat...

Use of the skin prick test and specific immunoglobulin E for the diagnosis of cockroach allergy.

OBJECTIVE To compare the prevalence of allergy to cockroaches (Blattella germanica and Periplaneta americana) in asthmatic and non-asthmatic children and to determine the degree of agreement between the skin prick test and serum specific IgE levels, as well as to establish the relationship between cockroach allergy and total IgE levels. METHODS A case-control study involving 76 asthmatic and ...
